Permission to be Basic

It's ok to be basic.

There, I said it. Buy the PSL. Frolic through the pumpkin patch. Throw leaves in the air while wearing a big, floppy hat.

There's nothing wrong with being basic or liking basic things. In fact, I'm here to reclaim it.

I'm currently completing a 300 hour yoga teacher training, and even though we have only moved through two out of our six months of training, it has been a lot. My understanding of yoga and myself has deepened. My awareness both off and on the mat has grown.

But, this learning can also come with a price. I can find myself losing the thread of what brought me to the mat in the first place. What was it that brought me to yoga to begin with?

I have done yoga off and on since I was a teenager, but really started attending regular classes in 2015. The classes were challenging and enlivening and made me feel strong in my body and more space in my mind.

And so in this moment where more questions than answers are coming up for me, I'm giving myself permission to return to basics. I started down this path because yoga feels so darn good. Yoga helps me to unite and care for all the facets of myself. It's ok for me to return to this thread over and over again.

It's ok for me to be basic.
